Vestia begins construction on SEEL project - Sweden’s largest research facility for electric and plug-in vehicles
2021-06-15
Vestia and Castellum began collaborating on the Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory (SEEL) project in the spring, and the contract that will enable the start of construction has now been signed by both parties. The contract cost amounts to approximately SEK 200m, excluding additional costs for business-specific installations.
“SEEL is a prestigious project, and I am very proud that Vestia has been entrusted by the customer to build this facility of the future with a focus on electromobility. This reinforces Vestia’s position as the region’s leading contractor in partnering and collaboration projects,” says Christian Johansson Gebauer, Chairman of the Board of Vestia Construction Group and Head of Business Area at Ratos.
The project involves the construction of Sweden’s largest research facility for electric and plug-in vehicles and will be built next to the old airport in Säve. The building comprises a total of approximately 15,000 square metres, including a laboratory area and office space.
“We are incredibly proud to be continuing our partnership with Castellum, having been appointed as the general contractor for the SEEL project. This is an important, high-profile project for all parties involved as well as for the City of Gothenburg. It is therefore particularly exciting to be involved in the development of a property that will contribute to the transition to a more sustainable transportation sector,” says Christian Wieland, CEO of Vestia Construction Group AB.
